I’m one of the new additions to the Style section of Artist Advocacy previously posting Wormhole in Street View and am so ecstatic to be a part of the team. So I thought I’d introduce myself: I’m a 19 year old student from England studying Fashion Communication at Liverpool John Moores University, which is a wonderfully artistic and broad-cultured city helping me develop my creativity. But then I have the beautiful contrast of the farming town Nantwich plastered with breathtaking landscapes, where my family are living, giving me a taste of the country life as well as the city.
I’m not the typical fashion student. I like to think I’m channeling my love of art, graphics and culture through fashion, finding interest in the most unusual of subjects. For instance, my last trend forecasting project, I developed a photography series of blue hair dyed gloves and chocolate eye balls floating in a bath of diluted blue paint (it looks so much cooler than it sounds). This was to represent a modern Frankenstein, clinical, comic villain, fetishised… basically completely twisted stuff. I often do strange and questionable things with my work like silly string infestations, model fully clothed with candy jewels under water (hard to find a sane person willing to do this) and gallivant over to the local butchers with my disposable.
I currently represent myself in a semi goth, 90′s grunger, vintage style with an unhealthy obsession with American Apparel and Urban Outfitters draining my slender student account, but I’m constantly changing my look, sourcing my style inspiration from music, culture, fashion blogs and editorials from various magazines, which always keeps me on my style toes. Next month I might transform into some sophisticated, lady-like accessory enthusiast… Who knows?
