“Emulsion Apparel thinks you like looking at good things.” Recent Massachusetts College of Art graduates Chris Fiftal and Dave DiAngelis have decided to take a very personal approach to the apparel market. “Emulsion gives us a reason to keep making our work. Art school typically pumps out a multitude of amazing talent with no guarantee of any future work.” Dave DiAngelis, the creative director of Emulsion is the brains behind the line. Inspired by “something different every 10 minutes” Dave has done it all from illustration and silk screening to designing the website and online store. Networking is a big part of Emulsion, and Dave keeps the “Artist Series” alive by staying in touch with the art community. The “Artist Series” line gives friends and upcoming talent the opportunity to get their artwork printed on a limited run of tees, hoodies, and plastered all over the interweb. With a guarantee of a new artist series tee out monthly, there’s always something new brewing in the Emulsion studio.
Funded out of their own pockets, Chris Fiftal host’s the Emulsion studio right out of his place in Brighton, MA. Equipped with a six color silk-screen press, a few computers, and a whole buncha’ chemicals, all the clothing and artwork is hand-made by Emulsion right in Boston. Chris, a skateboard videographer keeps the company close to the skateboard community by putting out independent skateboard videos every few years with his video-partner Elliott Vecchia. “Our last video, Dirty Water brought lot’s of attention to Emulsion from the skateboard world, which we are psyched to continue with a new video underway, planned to premiere sometime in August.” Not only has the place been taken over by the silk-screen beast-of-a-press, but Chris also hosts a powerful editing bay where all the video production magic happens. “Without my original passion for skateboarding, photography and videography, Emulsion would probably never have happened. Emulsion allows us to put a name behind what we all love to do”
Originally rooted in skateboarding, Emulsion has grown into a cultured lifestyle brand, open to all those with a passion, dabbling in photography, music, good whiskey, and google searches. “As long as it looks good, or makes us laugh, then we’re down.” Emulsion opens it’s arms to the public, inviting them to participate in the madness and follow their daily blog on Emulsion’s website. With complete & utter creative control, Dave and Chris look forward to what the future holds. Keep an eye out for new handmade clothing, events, and fresh new artists out monthly.
