Ed Droste is the frontman of the Grizzly Bear, but you probably already know that.  He is opinionated, but not in an asshole kind of way, so we figured he might be the right person to help us start a new series called Checklist.  What we ended up with is a fairly straightforward rundown of fact, bias, fiction, and everything in between.  Enjoy.

Hmm, we didn’t play Rome, but I wish we had so I could pick Rome.  I guess on this past tour I’d have to say Berlin.

Salad or hamburger?

I pick salad over hamburgers because growing up my mom used to make hamburgers and I’d get super freaked out watching her hands mash them up, and she’d make them TOO thick and sometimes the center would still be raw and cold and I’d want to vomit.  I only recently got over that.  Plus salad is just for realz fresh!

Beach House or Beach House?

Good Will Hunting or Fever Pitch?

I have no clue what Fever Pitch is, but Good Will Hunting is one of the lamest movies in the history of movies alongside Crash.  So I guess I just pick Fever Pitch by default.

Are you the original indie “bear” / animal band?

Fuck if I know.  Nothing is original and anytime you say something is, someone lunges at you with a knife and tells you to shut the fuck up and have some humility.

Favorite festival?

Probably Primavera because it’s really late and wild and the guys are insanely attractive and the music is great.  The beer they provide there, though, is absolute piss.  I like also Green Man and Sasquatch for their amazing backdrops.

Dream collaborator?

Beyonce?  Bjork?  Either/or.  BOTH!

Do you always or just maybe sometimes take it easy?

I definitely SOMETIMES take it easy.  A lot of the time I’m insanely neurotic and anxious and that’s the opposite of taking it easy.
