Dear Internet,

Here are a handful of songs by friend’s bands, bands that became friends, and bands that we like that aren’t really our friends. A couple snippets & factoids about a chosen few:

“Mindy Cohen” by the incomparable KREAMY ‘LECTRIC SANTA. We played a DIY show with KLS in San Pedro at Babe’s Warehouse – an amazing space that also doubles as a S&M-type brothel. The show was incredibly fun; Underground Railroad to Candyland, Shellshag, KLS, and Screamales. Fabulousness ensued.

“Can’t Stand the World” by the late & great CHEEKY. A sadly defunct group of very close friends who had world-conquering potential but unfortunately imploded before the release of their seminal and incredible LP, “What the Heck?”

“Endless Mike” by PUJOL, the greatest (and not to mention TERRIBLY HANDSOME) songwriter since like, uh, Dylan or something. Intellectual jams you can play whilst alphabetizing your Encyclopedia Britannica’s.

“With Shotguns” by SONGS FOR MOMS, three sassy ladies from the Bay Area in the great state of California. A popular favorite in the Screamales tour van, impeccably crafted lyrics and dead-on musicianship.

“Resilient Bastard” by SHELLSHAG – the GREATEST rock n’ roll band in the world. The two sweetest, most amazing people writing the best pop songs that you won’t feel guilty listening to, like when Marissa secretly listens to Katy Perry on her ipod in the van.

Love,
Screaming Females

P.S. “These songs are good, and good songs are good to listen to!” – King Mike
